Susanna Hansel is a current German MA Student, and is not teaching in the Spring of 2023 and Fall 2023 in lieu of a Study Abroad Exchange to Ludwigsburg University of Education starting in April. She will be continuing this Exchange in the Fall Semester starting in October. Her pronouns are she/her/hers.

Susanna received her undergraduate degrees in May 2021 from Coastal Carolina University, and is originally from Atlanta, Georgia. Her undergraduate degrees were a BFA in Theatre Arts with a concentration in Costume Design and Construction, and a BA in Languages and Intercultural Studies with a concentration in German and Italian. Her current research interests include German film from all eras, gender and sexuality (specifically during the Weimar Republic), looking at German-language theatre, and recently Second Language Acquisition (SLA) in relation to German. She was the recipient of the Max Kade Fellowship for the 2021-2022 Academic Year, and received a Fellowship to study abroad in May 2022 when she completed a Goethe Institute Program in Berlin, Germany. Starting in April 2023 until February 2024, she will be partaking in a Graduate Student Exchange with PH Ludwigsburg where she will be working as a Tutor for English Learners.

During her time at Coastal Carolina University, she got the opportunity to travel abroad twice, once to Tuscany, Italy and to Berlin, Germany (cancelled due to the COVID-19 Pandemic). When she is not in the classroom, she enjoys drinking cold brew, watching German TV/films and planning her next trip abroad.
